STANDBY FLAP SYSTEM
LIMIT SWITCHES

FAA STC (SA11115SC) EASA STC (10043724) BRAZILIAN STC (2013S11-03) As installed, the normal airplane flap system is equipped with a standby motor that may be utilized in the event of primary system failure. However, the standby flap system as installed does not include any method to protect the structure from over extending the system at either the upper or lower end of the flap travel. When the system is over extended structural damage will occur.

In order to prevent over travel of the flap with use of the standby flap system, a modification to the system is installed. Two switches, along with the associated wiring and support clips on the root rib of the RH wing with each switch are used to allow this modification. A corresponding Flap Switch Actuator Arm bracket is installed on the existing RH Inboard Wing Flap Bellcrank Assembly. The newly installed switches will serve to limit the travel of the existing standby system. A wiring receptacle will be installed in the RH wing root rib to accommodate the installation of the two switches.
